Alma Brewer Strawn Elementary School

Student enrollment has continued to increase in LISD. This has been particularly evident at the elementary school level. PK-5th grade enrollment is now over 2,600 students. The combined functional capacity for these campuses is just under 2,600 students. As a result, the bond program included funding for a new elementary campus. The facility will be designed for an initial student capacity of 500. Core spaces, such as the library, cafeteria, etc., will be design to allow for expansion to 700 students.

Update:
  • Boring under FM 1854 has been done and water lines pending connection (schedule)
  • Site utilities are 95% complete
  • One final memo sent to Polonia counsel regarding capital improvement fees, pending their response
  • Bluebonnet EC installation fee and approval letter are in accounting to be processed
  • OBR is working with local surveyor on easements for both Polonia and Bluebonnet EC
  • OBR memo regarding the Bluebonnet solar energy program
  • Excavation for elevator pit and french drain to the exterior are in place
  • Final submittal on meter and backflow vault distributed to all parties
  • Plumbers and electricians continue working on underslab rough-in piping and conduit; backfill and compaction in progress
  • Concrete crews continue excavating grade beams and installing reinforcing in section 3
  • OBR has completed an FF&E budget and meetings with committee continue to finalize selections
  • OBR has library vendor coming in for preliminary planning/layout (both schools)
